This outfit is a collaboration between several people, including Masahiro Hayashi (Rey’s regular costume maker), Darnell Isom (a Hollywood designer), and Carlos “Spiff TV” Suarez.
It is sometimes said to be a tribute to the Great Muta, but… bulky-helmet look aside, I personnally don’t see it, and at the post-Mania press conference, Rey only described it as “going Hollywood style” instead of the usual “superhero-ish”.
